Backyard

Family Portraits

One of the most challenging obstacles for a potential portrait client is trying to decide on the best backdrop for their session.  I ask them several key questions to help them nail down what is already some type of vision for the perfect backdrop.  Surprisingly, they know what they don't want so it would seem to be a simple solution.  Simple is what they are trying to convey, you know "a family shoot at the beach" but what they imagine is a vast blue ocean with a clean white sand beach, maybe a flock of pelicans flying in the background as the sun sets behind them with those golden hues of a Californian sky, the only thing missing would be the cliffs since this is Texas.

I dig for a few more details to conclude that they really just want a nice portrait to share with family and friends and the last time they took a studio portrait it was for their Church directory and although it was a nice portrait, they want something a little different.

One of my favorite locations is a client's own backyard, it is a huge part of your family history.  Although the focus of my portraits are to make my clients look their best, knowing that we are documenting a piece of a timeline for generations to come make your own backyard a natural choice for a family portrait.  It also allows us to include your pet without too much trouble.

Don't let another nice day go by, call for your appointment!
